Water Bridges Collection (1.0) - 10/12/2020

Water bridges, also known as navigable aqueducts or canal bridges, are bridges that carry navigable waterways over other rivers, valleys, railways, or roads. They typically have a larger cross section than water-supply aqueducts and are a more recent thing, becoming more prominent in the 17th century. This collection was originally going to include all aqueducts, including those used for irrigation or drinking water. However, there are so incredibly many of those aqueducts (including over 1000+ Roman aqueducts alone), and many of them are poorly documented, so instead this collection only includes aqueducts used (today or in the past) by vessels, such as the Magdeburg Water Bridge below. The collection currently contains 319 water bridges, with a large amount of them in the United Kingdom.
