Nice work krenek, Walter_V_R, lockhopper and CuriousJM. Clue time! The 200 year old temple has been underwater over 50 years after the region was flooded by the building of a dam in the northern part of the country.

I found the region before you posted a clue, but the exact location seems to escape me.

bridgeplayer and others looking. My apologies! The temple in bridgeplayer's post, and the one I posted were both submerged due to dam constructions. I had forgotten about the temple in your post. That temple was exposed due to drought in 2019, and the temple I posted reappeared this year. Sorry I didn't think about the similarities in the recent rediscoveries of these two historic temples! The temple in the OP was submerged by the dam named for his eldest daughter.
That temple is approximately 265 km at heading 37 degrees from the temple with the now headless Buddha in bridgeplayer's post, Wat Nong Bua Yai.

Great job everyone! The ruins of a two-century-old temple in Thailand were revealed after the water in Ubolratana Dam in northeast Thailand, dropped to its lowest level in 50 years. Visitors have traveled from afar to get a glimpse of the ruins and its art, before the monsoon rains arrive to lift the dam level and submerge the temple once more. The chapel of the temple remains intact despite being underwater for decades. The temple was the center of a community of 500 households, which was evacuated and submerged when the dam was built from 1964-66.Locals are now performing religious rites in the temple for the first time in more than 50 years, including placing bricks in a square shape as per Isaan tradition. 16°46'20.26"N 102°33'58.78"E www.stuff.co.nz/travel/destinations/asia/121808765/sunken-buddhist-temple-reemerges-in-thailandThanks to bridgeplayer's initial post, I was reminded that another submerged temple appeared in 2019 due to drought in central Thailand. Wat Nong Bua Yai had been submerged for 20 years after construction of a dam, but the ongoing drought allowed the temple to resurface. 14°52'24.20"N 101° 3'51.68"E www.atlasobscura.com/places/wat-nong-bua-yai
