The Murder of the Romanov Royal Family, July 16-17, 1918.

On the night of July 16-17, 1918 the Romanov royal family (the Tsar, the Tsarina, their five childrfen and four other retainers) were murdered by the Bolsheviks in the basement of 'The House of Special Purpose' which stood, until the 1960's, on the site of the present Church of All Saints.

Subsequently the bodies were taken by truck to burial site number one, and then to burial site number two.

we should add that two of the bodies (Alexei und his sister Maria) were found in 2007 not far from the main grave on the Koptyaki Road and analysed by DNA (from HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh) as them, the boy for sure, the girl not.

And how do you think of Rasputin?

Was he a key figure or just a simple crook, accidentaly appearing at such a fundamental turn in history? 

I don't think I know enough about Rasputin to make a comment.  His life and death are certainly intriguing!
