At first I thought I found a glitch on Google Earth, It's a strange rectangular hole south of Inaccessible Island. Realized that the shape in the hole, is A Whale. Whoa ... or it's a Submarine! One of my other first thoughts was that maybe it was a hole from nuclear missile testing. Then I dismissed the idea, remembering that all those tests had been in the South Pacific. Till I found this ... Operation Argus at www.hahnstamps.com/operation-argus-2.html

hi and welcome! none. please notice this feature is 3000 meters long and I think is another, simple data-glitch, or at least something, we cannot interpret anything for sure about, even that it exists or not. of course, some "ARGUS remains" can be there, invisible for a GE user, but I do not think its up for your "object". - at least sure, not a 3 kilometers long missile or submarine. thanks good link! best! g

Hi Syzygy
Thank you!
Good points!
I'm just doing it from my phone, didnt realize there are tools to measure such things, that does seem a little perpostuous and puts better perspective on things!

...I'm just doing it from my phone, didnt realize there are tools to measure such things,... yep, my screenie is from a PC monitor and shows Google Earth (GE) Pro (desktop version) running. btw, on web-GE also you can do measurements however much less other tools and layers are available than in desktop-GE: bye!

The oceans are represented in a faux colour that represents depth , or something like it.
Much of the ocean floor between your object and the island ( actually named ! ) "Inaccessible Island" is merely a very rough estimate of depth, thus giving an extremely smooth look .
What you missed is that there is a strip running northwest to south east, that is a higher resolution, in which your "object" is revealed. The strips of higher resolution depth data show many many such blobs, and you are interpreting ink blobs..
The colouration of the high resolution is not matching the colouration of the low resolution .. the low resolution faux colour represents absolute depth. The high resolution colouration seems to be designed to show the texture of the ocean floor, to show whether its igneous or sediment, and being deposited or eroded, or tectonic deformation, not the absolute depth.

Yeah, the reason why the ocean is pretty much low resolution is probably cause Google Earth/Maps didn't want to deal with photographing the whole ocean due to how big it is. Besides, I think it would be a waste of time just to picture the seas.
