On the night of July 29/30, 1942, a Stirling I (OJ-H) crashed somewhere on this street (Grulingsstrasse). I did manage to find a war-time picture of the crash-site on the internet. My uncle was the rear gunner of this aircraft; none of the crew survived. His surviving sisters would like to know of any further details of the incident. Can anyone help? Thanks, in advance. (Note the rubble mountain 1.78 km. due north of this marker - this is made from debris from the Rodenhof area of the city.) _________________________ 'Those who do not remember the past are condemned to repeat their mistakes.' - George Santayana 'You may not be interested in war, but war is interested in you.' - Leon Tolstoy (?)

Chriusha - the web-site you cited does list the correct Stirling crash but , unfortunately, it tells me no more than I knew. FLAK got them and I think they crashed on the street. I was hoping that some local citizens might know more. I do know where their grave site is, but that is all. Thanks again. Larry

Leong - thank you so much for the information. One of Ron's sisters is still alive (she is 103)!! I will follow up on your information. It was worth waiting for. Larry
p.s. I found where those two cookies landed. Just past the rail yards, the target for that night.
