The entrance to a cave would certainly be a sesation. I have created an overlay, but unfortunately no trace of Martians. Interestingly, however, the series of craters (Ceraunius Catena), to which this one belongs, looks like bullet holes from a machine gun.

The series of craters seem to be collapse pits, often created as weakened roofs of lava tubes collapse. See HERE for an explanation.
