Street View_Historical Niles District, Fremont, California.___ . One area that has undergone changes in several converging old routes is Niles. Before the railroads came through the old Oakland-San Jose road was the main road through Niles. It was was later shifted outside of town. Furthermore, the old road was cut off at the south end of town where an old bridge crossed Alameda Creek (here). In 1937 the state highway was shifted to the east and a brief portion of the old road named Overacker, for another pioneer. You can't navigate further than here on street view but you can exit street view and then zoom in again by the bike path for more views. The landmark Mission Peak is seen in the distance. The train that is going by is on a switch track for Union Pacific and headed for Niles Canyon.
