Devil's Bridge (Welsh: Pontarfynach, lit. "The bridge on the Mynach") is a village in Ceredigion, Wales. Above the River Mynach on the edge of the village is the unusual road bridge from which the village gets its English name. SourceThe bridge is unusual as it consist of not one but three stacked bridges, each one built upon the previous bridge. The original and the lowest bridge was built in the 11th century. When that was thought to be unstable, a second stone bridge was built over the gorge directly atop the original bridge. That was in the mid-18th century. The original bridge was not demolished; rather it was used to support scaffolding during construction. The third and the final bridge is an iron bridge constructed in 1901. Again, the previous two bridges were left untouched, perhaps to preserve them. Amusing PlanetGMaps Blue Dot

hey! something, -CuriousJM would also like! -and how good to see kite_surfer's old, blue "i"*, enabling community layer on GE PC! thanks for post! as I have seen, that no more useful GE PC layer info (photos) available, I tried and finally have found a StreetView angle from where also arch of a lower bridge can be spotted: bridge view.kmz (991 B) also have checked, but no other SV imagery date for a better view on GMaps. Poor GE PC! Both GMaps and GE Chrome have "blue dots" photo layer, GMaps also has switchable SV imagery date feature meanwhile GE PC photo layer is full of dead panoramio shots. BTW, up till now I thought, that the "blue dots" = GMaps Photos = GE PC/Layers/Photos/GMaps Photos (!?) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ *oGEC posting about nearby location by our old fellow: Talyllyn Railway - Tour
(check GE PC/Layers/Gallery/GEC layer for two further related postings by other oGEC members)
