Hi everybody;
I am new here and my question is described below and I'd be pleased if you could help me on this..
I have a photo project which I'll hopefully align the rising moon between 2 towers and to do that I have planned everything needed which is due on 7th of august (it'll be full moon) and I have just one thing left that I have to be sure so that the project does not fail.
(in fact I could test it on my own by getting to the exact location but I am on holiday now and my return to Istanbul is just 1 day before my planned date (7th of august) so I don't have time to go to the area to test it.)
here is my question:
I'll shoot form this exact position 40.9882n, 29.0184e
the location of the towers' coordinates are:40.9765n, 29.0545e
(this is a place where 2 very tall towers stand (their height is 150m each) and my target is as I said before, aligning the moon between these 2 towers.)
the distance between my point of shooting and the towers is 3.3 km and the pin to pin azimuth is 113.1 degrees
and according to my calculations from my point of view the moon will be aligned between these 2 towers (actually there are 4 towers, 2 on the 1st row and the other 2 behind them, and I am targeting the 1st row, it is not important though) on 7th of august at 20:17.
at that time the sun's elev will be -1.65 and moon' elev will be 1.98 which is ok for this purpose.
(according to my calculations the diameter of the moon will be 28 metres and according to GE the distance between 2 towers is 30metres so that's good too..I'll use xt2 +200mm lens)
and now my question:
I am not sure whether these 2 towers would be visible from my location 40.9882n, 29.0184e.
I have to see those towers since they are the tallest ones around but when I am on the street mode on Google Earth from my exact position, when I look at the direction of 113.1 degrees, I should be seeing those 2 towers since they are the tallest buildings in the area but I can not see them. maybe it is because the distance between my position and the towers is big (3.3 km), or maybe it is realted with GE, I don't know. But I have to be sure that I chose the right spot (to photo those 2 towers so I need this info to be confirmed by someone who knows what I am talking about)
I'd be so angry to myself if on that project day, I go there and for some reason don't see the towers ;(which is 3.3kms away.)
is there a way that I can prove myself that from that location , those towers would be visible to me (without going to that location and testing, bec I have no time to go there earlier than the project day)
as I said before Ive tried it with GE but on the street level mode I can not see those towers although I can see no reason that I can't see them since they are really very tall like 150-170metres long (and they are the tallest ones in the area.)
I'd be pleased if someone can help me on this ,thx in advance
thank you and
take care and have a great summer
