If you wander around looking at things on Street View enough, especially in rural areas, you will come across a lot of old vehicles. Some running, some not, but all a lot of fun to see. This collection will be ongoing. Add to it if you desire! By "old", I mean before about 2000, but the older the better. Rusty or restored. Take a photo of it and do your best to ID the make & year, at least the decade (Google Image search comes in handy). Many of them can be seen in Street View. Only three rules: 1. Photos can be your own or Street View shots, but not other people's Panoramio shots already at the location. 2. Blurring license plates is recommended, unless the car/truck has obviously been abandoned or not registered for many years. 3. Please include a file attachment (KMZ) for its location. EDIT: The following photos were lost when Photobucket took them away. I will replace them when I find them on my hard drive.
These are in Klamath Falls, Oregon... 1946-47 Chevy dump truck. This one has been moved out of the junk pile, hopefully for restoration. 1949-51 Chevy van 1941 International 1958 Chevy pickup; 1941 Buick Eight. Both are now gone, perhaps for restoration or parting-out. Folder: KF cars trucks 1.kmz (1022 B)

Merrill and Klamath Falls, Oregon. Merrill has a lot of big potato farms, hence the potato hauling trucks. Klamath Falls used to be an important logging/mill center, hence old pickups and log trucks. <<< Seriously. Merrill Police Dept., probably late '90s Ford Crown Victoria. Vintage Peterbilt, former log truck - '70s or '80s. 1960s International. Dead Ford, early 1960s ? Adorable! Cartoon 1956 GMC potato truck. More potato trucks, 1960s Chevys. Your old trucks remind me of what a thrill it was to drive them when they were bright-shiny new. I guess I know what that makes me.
Old vehicles are very rare here in Japan. When a new car is 3 years old, and every 2 years after that, it has to undergo a thorough inspection, and everything needs to be fixed. As you can imagine, this is quite expensive, and a lot of people just buy a new car instead of going to the considerable expense of the shaken. It's not hard, however, to find lots of people older than your cars and trucks.

I had read about that a few years ago. Furthermore, many of their used cars are shipped to the US and elsewhere. I would not be able to have a car in Japan! "Everything" needs to be fixed on a 3 year old car?! Good heavens. My Honda is 15 years old and the only things I've ever needed, besides routine maintenance, were items on recalls!

G'day Diane. My friend Kenny had his daughter do some sign writing on his 1963 AB-120 International Harvester pickup truck and it looks great. He's been tinkering with it for a few years now. Pity about the lost images in previous posts but I'm hopeful that Cloudinary (which I'm using now) will stay around for a while.

Greetings and Happy New Year, Farceur!!! I was thinking about you recently when I happened across your Earth post about the lady truck driver. It's a good one, by the way.
Your friend's truck is a gem! His daughter is a sign pro, I see. Yes, I've got to give Cloudinary a try and see if I can reconstruct a few of my posts on nGEC.

Inspired by your latest response in Members' photogaphy, I did a GSV walk-around in Klamath Falls. Also it was a faint try to spot You (or at least your Honda), but finally only have spotted something that probably meets your requirements about a relevant reply to this thread: (Edit: just have seen it is not... being a SV screenie. Sorry for misread OP!)Old wrecker at the gun store, Klamath Falls (imagery date: 5/2018): Klamath Falls Wrecker.kmz (778 B) How great it would be if now you could take a photo of this "beauty" to share with us here! (; - What cab it is? I bet, you know for the first glance! (okay, a Ford, but in more details...) ... BTW, why the pelican is an iconic bird of Klamtah Falls? /"Pelican City Auto Wrecker", also I have seen it in the coat-of-arms of the town (it can be seen on manhole covers all around the settlement)./ ... And hey, just now I see - the doggy inside! So this one aslo would fit to your StreetDogs thread...!(: All the best! G

I think I've seen that truck parked there before...or maybe I saw it on SV! (No problem with the screen shot. I'm changing the requirement.) Sorry we didn't meet - haha! Some I've been collecting...sorry, I did not save placemarks for these. Ketchikan, Alaska - Mack truck, a venerable old workhorse. Used for logging, hauling, dumping, farming, and as fire trucks. Their logo is a bulldog, and if it hasn't been stolen, you'll see one as a hood ornament and a badge on each side of the hood. This is probably a mid-late 1950s model. Jackson, Mississippi - Old tractors and 1950s pickup truck. Sunnyvale, California - Plymouth, 1947-48. Nicely restored using original-looking color, but modern wheels. Slight lowering for a hotrod look. (Just noticed the imagery has been updated since this car was in the street, but posted the KMZ, anyway.)

I had taken this shot in Oct, 2016 and just came across it in my Ipernity photo gallery. It seems this is its permanent parking place! (Cloudinary still not reducing size.) Re: Your question...There are a lot of pelican namesakes in town, including the high school football team. Klamath Lake is a breeding headquarter for a large population of American white pelicans.

Oooh that's a beauty, Willi! Looks like a 3100 to me, too. Here is a recent find at a wrecking yard that I trespassed on while no one was looking: A very rare 1949 Kaiser!!! (My photo.) Wrecking yards always have a section where valuable old vehicles are kept. Then, they are advertised online or in collector's magazines for sale. On the window is the price: $9,895. This appears to have most of its chrome trim and no dents on the body visible in this view. It was much harder to dent a car, then! Wrong wheels, of course. Pelican Auto Wreckers.kmz (727 B) <<< Ha! Another Pelican company, syzygy!

1946-47 Hudson Pickup truck. Sitting in front of Dollar General in Merrill, Oregon. The owner had inherited it from her grandfather - lucky girl! (My photo.) Hudson pickup.kmz (718 B)
