Post an image which you think is depicted by this Post-it note. The small print (which is not really small because I want you to be able to read it): - You will need to enter an orange business view dot and you will probably need to zoom in once inside. - Your image should be tightly cropped. The font used in the note is Kaileen

In my browser (FF) the orange dots don't appear at the moment. Or maybe they do, as orange icons (a glass is a pub etc.) rather than mere dots. Anyway, I can't enter those places by dragging Pegman there. In my GE program they do appear, but no entrance either. I may be doing something wrong of course, but in IE things work properly.

Well done, lockhopper. Sorry about the problems you are having, BP, ET and anyone else experiencing issues. I, too, cannot enter the orange dot in Google Earth but land on the road outside. Firefox is working for me, though (as an orange dot, not some other icon). That's in new Google Maps. If I switch to classic maps. I can't enter. Another option (doesn't seem to work in Google Earth) is to start in the street on the western side of the building in street view and enter the door to the left of the yellow van. (Don't knock over the man, woman and dog.) This is supposed to be fun, not frustrating, so, if anyone is experiencing difficulties and can't get inside the building, feel free simply to post an overhead view of the building.

Just for the record, I cannot see any orange dots either, in any version of SV or in GE, whatever I do, and have never seen any. Why is that? In fact I had to google orange dots in street view to see an image of what they look like. I would try to follow the directions about the van, but first I need to know where the shop is, and to know that, I need the orange dots... Also, there are "halles" in practically every city, town, village in France (if this is the right country). I suppose these are the most famous/ biggest ones?

Thanks for the info, lockhopper, krenek and JohnLuke. Well done on solving the puzzle, krenek and Walter. The orange business view dots and blue photosphere dots are supposed to be visible whenever the blue street view lines are visible, provided you are zoomed in close enough. I just tried a view of Paris in maps.google.fr (new maps, not classic) in Chrome and Firefox and the orange dots appeared. Try the same link and click on pegman. You don't have to click and drag, either. A simple click on pegman should be enough to display everything. I'm curious to know whether this works for you. If you know the correct location (see next point below) you can find the van even if you cannot see orange dots. Good point. This is where the first part of the post-it note is supposed to reduce the possibilities to a list of one. If you are still having trouble with that clue, please let me know.

Thanks for all the help, Seefit. I can see the orange dots now! Yes, you were right, no need for the orange dots when you search for the shop. I even found it on my phone. Thanks for your clue. I had not made the connection with the town, because in my mind it's just a name, even though there's a reason it's got that name. I mean, you probably don't think of the town of Cheddar everytime you eat Cheddar cheese... Also, with the same logic as in the post-it, if you want to make a Cheddar sandwich, you need to buy the bread in the town of Cheddar, don't you? Well, I could see it worked for everybody else so I better shut up now. Edit: not quite: Do you or anyone else know how to make an image in the new GMSV? I don't know how. Also, how can I save the url? There was a feature for that in the old SV, not in the new one (that's visible at least). Thanks!!!

I'm glad I was able to help, JohnLuke, and I'm also glad you managed to find the location. One of the fascinating things about a community such as this one is that we all think differently. I had in my mind that a Google search for the mustard using the different ingredient would cough up the name. But, that's not how everyone would necessarily approach the puzzle. I guess that this "thinking differently" is the reason we get frustrated when someone posts a puzzle claiming it to be easy when, in fact, others have no idea of the solution. As you have often pointed out, the logic is easier to see once you know the solution. Thanks for keeping us grounded. I'm glad you're back.

I forgot to answer that in the previous post. I tend to use a printscreen/screenshot. I think I did that in classic maps, too. I don't think there is any Save Image functionality like there is in Google Earth. For the link/URL, there is an option accessible from the gear icon in the bottom right section of the screen. Choose the Share or embed image option then copy either the full URL or the Short URL (tick box) from the popup window: If you want to get rid of all of the clutter before your screenshot, try following the instructions from this Google+ post. There have been some changes to what you see on the screen since then but the process still works.

Hello, in addition to what's been said already, there's a problem for those of us not in the US. The blue photosphere dots and the orange business dots are not visible on www.google.com/maps/ for those outside the US. You can still access them if you know where they are, but you can't see them. If you use your own country domain (or another domain), you should see them. For example, I can see them on www.google.co.uk/maps/ or www.google.be/maps/. Depending on how you access Maps, you may end up on the .com site without realising. If that's the case and you are sure you are in the right place, it's probably easiest just to change the domain (leave the rest of the link the same) in the address bar.

Thanks, Noisette. I promise not to use dots for puzzles any more. I think it just got the better of me this time - I couldn't resist once I saw the label on the jar.

Now that Noisette (the star of the solution) has joined the list of those to solve this puzzle, it's time for the answer. The clues in the post-it note and the solution: The recipe for Dijon mustard uses verjuice instead of vinegar. That was supposed to indicate the name of the town. Les Halles is a building in Dijon. If you manage to enter via the orange dot, the cheese shop should be very close to you. The jars (seen in correct answers above) are at the right hand end of the counter. For those who didn't manage to see it, these are the Australian Google Maps links (new Maps, not classic): Overhead: goo.gl/maps/g1X84The cheese shop: goo.gl/maps/oXweM

Never heard of Dijon Mustard. Didn't even know what is Verjuice (till I Googled for it after reading the note in OP). No wonder I couldn't solve it.
