Approximately georeferenced Lunar Orbiter 5 image (168 med) showing Vitello crater. This crater was once thought to be a possible caldera due to its floor fractures, relatively young appearance, proximity to a basin margin, and the fact that it was an infrared hot-spot. This image and higher-resolution ones acquired by Lunar Orbiter 5 in 1967 showed that the the infrared anomaly was caused by abundant boulders which retain heat longer than the lunar regolith.
