During our expedition sailing around the world ( TahinaExpedition.com), I took some kite aerial photos as part of a project with Google to try and capture some unique places with high resolution imagery. Sometimes, photos of me would be captured since I would be standing near the kite. Here is just one of the several self-portraits which can be found showing me holding the remote-control device I use to control the camera and take pictures. To learn more about the kite aerial photo shoot at the Tuamotu atoll Manihi where this was taken, read this blog post. Fly to the location in Google Earth: GEselfie.kmz (951 B)

Great. So have most of your kite pix ended up in default imagery? Sort of like the Michael T Fay of of the photokite. I even see they have attribution at the bottom center of the earth view.

Yes Hill, most of my kite aerial shootings have made it into the base imagery. I didn't take as many as expected because what I really needed was a drone. It's hard to get the right viewing conditions (sunny, clear) and also enough wind to lift the kite with a camera and remote control rig hanging below it.
And, Michael Fay's Megaflyover in Africa was the example that gave me the idea to do this project in the first place. I even told him about it when I met him once before the sailing trip.

Oh, that's funny! I guess a kite beats a selfie-stick any day.

Yes 4 years February just gone since the one that Caused 90% of the damage. The Cathedral is much like you saw it on the day.
All Areas are now accesable but there are still barriers around many Buildings where decisions are still to be made. Without looking at photos it getting to a point where I try to remember what was in that empty space.
And just in the last week we have had 3 just under the mag 4 level
