I came across a ‘thing’ that I’d heard of but didn’t know much about. I looked up the town where the thing originated and found this relevant Blue Dot image: Those containers could contain anything, so here is a clue to what’s being produced inside: (It’s not any kind of knife.) Good luck!

Well done all.
The answer: This utensil is an absinthe spoon, whose function is explained here. Absinthe originated in the Val-de-Travers region in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland in the 18th century. “It rose to great popularity as an alcoholic drink in late 19th- and early 20th-century France, particularly among Parisian artists and writers.” Commercial production started in the town of Couvet in Val-de-Travers. The Blue Dot image shows some ‘alembics’ in a modern absinthe distillery in Couvet, the Distillerie Artemisia Bugnon. 46.9241°N, 6.6336°E
