By the way, there are more pods in the immediate vicinity along this stretch of the coast - given that they in fact ARE pods of whales.

hi and welcome secretchief ! congrats for nice spotting! -also let me wish endurance to learn the kmz placemark stuff! -this time I have done this work for you.(: here I attach kmz folder with outline and two highligts of your pods of whales, also placemark off-coast Hawaii included by whom I would need some expertise on ID. whales on GE.kmz (1.88 KB) credit given to yours in folder description, but I just cannot remember, how on earth I got to the Hawaiian location. g

I'm definitely no expert in marine biology (I am an archaeologist), but size and shape perhaps indicate that those in Hawaii may be a medium-sized baleen whale like Bryde's whale?

Here's a bunch of whales from my collection, a couple of them were found by me. Can anyone tell me what kind of whale is in the one I have marked "Blue Whale?" I only guessed at that because of the size of its flippers. But really, I have no idea. I'd love to know though! Attachments:Whales.kmz (105.28 KB)
