In the official (old) GEC whenever we made a kml/kmz file we used to give some information/picture about a particular location/object and it used to get incorporated in Google Earth. Any one could read that info by clicking on blue " i". Those blue " i"s also contained a link back to original post where some more information was also available. However the kml/kmz files attached now with our posts in nGEC are not incorporated (for obvious reasons) in GE and can only be accessed through the post in nGEC. In my opinion attaching a kml/kmz file for a single location serves no purpose. Making kml/kmz file for a multi-location post like my " Giant Hands Around The World" may serve only the limited purpose of a taking a tour of all the locations in GE. I seek comments/views of our members on the subject. If it is felt that kml/kmz file should be attached, then how much information should be given in it?

Well, it is the Google Earth Community I was looking for the Google Earth file in your amazing Giant Hands post so I could see where they all are. For me that's the whole point, to see these locations in Google Earth. So I would happily browse such a file, clicking on the different locations. Reading the post on the forum isn't the same thing, personally I find that less interesting. Even with a Google Maps link, I don't get an overview of where they all are. I do recognise though this would be a huge undertaking for you, so quite understand if you don't want to do it.

dear friend, J!
Put up a placemark in GE is not simply useful, also the only way to register one's path through both the real and GWorlds and to let a sign after them, anywhere some interests found.
check my mound's' thread 24.000+ marks. -thousands of the markers were not placed by browsing GE imagery, but were located by old maps and descriptions.
anyhow always I love to stick a pin with at least one link or info bit let there to others who might follow the thread, I have dropped, no matter this placemark is displayed on public GE (i) layer, shared as attachment on nGEC or be waiting on my HDD.
as Nois also I do prefer GE because of its great handling/viewing advantages (like a magic marble in the hand with the whole world inside), that GE gives best display of global datasets, best presentation of such great collections so, ...
...just do that file!(;

"In my opinion attaching a kml/kmz file for a single location serves no purpose."
I kind of agree there, although it's useful if you want to add that location to your "My Places" on Google Earth.
"Making kml/kmz file for a multi-location post like my "Giant Hands Around The World" may serve only the limited purpose of a taking a tour of all the locations in GE."
I wouldn't call it a limited purpose. I agree with Noisette, it's all about seeing things in Google Earth. I'd love to see your collection in Google Earth; if for example I wanted to visit some of those locations, I could map out ahead of time my path to see them. Could also be interesting to see what parts of the world have the most Giant Hands; perhaps there's some clusters? Visualizing the location of interesting things for me is often as interesting as seeing the thing in the first place.
