The Tatami stones are a natural monument near Kumecima, the Japanese prefecture of Okinawa. It consists of pentagonal and hexagonal rocks separated by defined boundaries. The diameter of each rock is 1-1.5 meters. During the Miocene, the columns were formed by andesitic lava. Water erosion has leveled and smoothed the tops of the rock structures.
