View with 3D box checked_Yosemite Valley. The fracture marked here is called Glacier Point Gully. It is the abandoned old 'one-mile' trail from near Housekeeping Camp on the valley floor, one-mile up the gully to the top of Glacier Point. The modern 4-Mile Trail to Glacier Point starts at the base of Sentinel Rock, and zig zags 4 miles up Sentinel Rock to the top of Glacier Point., seen picture center. The trail is highlighted when the roads box is checked. Below Glacier Point is an exspance of solid granite called the Apron, and rising nearly 3000 feet. At upper right is Sentinel Dome, and seen in the background at upper left is a series of cone-shaped domes known as Starr King Ridge. The day I took the old One-Mile trail, it started out sunny, warm and clear but it started getting overcast and then cold and raining,. By the time I got to the top I was drenched and freezing. I found the top end of the 4-Mile Trail and ran back down to the valley floor.
