According to Wikipedia the US states with the highest Hungarian-American populations are... Ohio 203,417 New York 157,863 California 133,988 Pennsylvania 132,184 New Jersey 115,615 Michigan 98,036 Florida 96,885 It's very interesting to read about the causes of the three major "waves" of immigration. This follows the pattern of much of the immigration from Europe and Russia to the USA, with the exception of the post-1956 uprising, for obvious reasons.

That is a great graphic! The 2010 census is the most recent, by the way. They are done every 10 years. I agree, this should be in P&C and here it is...

As 100 th anniversary of Trianon Peace Treaty is approaching, the more we speak about the subject around here in Hungary, the more often we think of our nation torn apart. Relatives, acquaintances - 3,5 million ethnic hungarian people - were left outside of their 1000 years old mothercountry and have found themselves as a minority in hostile environments. Ever since these chopped-off fragments of the nation are treated "not the best" (as potential threats) and are exposed to outrages and discrimination, also given less chance to cherish their culture and language. *** Probably the most horrible massacre of hungarian history is one example of this bad fate, when 40.000 innocent (and unarmed) hungarian people were killed, many of them were tortured to death by the most inhuman and sadistic methods. This happened in 1944, during the chaotic period of WW2 and took place in Bácska - a territory that were gained by WW1-successor Kingdom of Yugoslavia. In this update I have added a new kmz folder to the "Vajdasági Magyarok" (Hungarians in Vojvodina) subfolder, which contains placemark set for the settlements that were involved with the tragic events. All data and interpretations are based on the book by Cseres Tibor: Vérbosszú Bácskában ( Serbian Vendetta in Bácska). Before you start browsing this update (and it's literature), please read publisher's note on the heading of the english edition: And this summary from author's preface: *** In placemarks' descriptions, where data were available, death toll of the two raids given as: number of cold days' victims from the settlement (1942) / number of freezing days' victims in the settlement (1944) Also you may find further quotes and links browsing kmz placemarks and subfolders. (Sorry for mixed, hungarian-english content - this will be fixed soon!) *** Updated kmz file attached to OP.
