There has been a viral photo in the news recently (only a couple of days back). OK, maybe not so viral but the original is RIS-able and yields many results. I reconstructed it exactly as it is oriented, from about the same height (virtually). Of course, this is a satellite image, and the original is a drone photo, much sharper. GE/GM please

The GE image isn't as good as the GM image.

Google is beginning to get on my nerves. Even if the photo is definitely not viral, and even if it isn't provided (all of which makes the title of this puzzle rather misleading), I recently had tangible proof that Google Lens doesn't find the same results for everybody (if that needed proof). But now that I knew the right country (thanks to the screenshot of one of you"s results kindly sent to me, completely different from mine), I googled the country, and even the type of place, in News and absolutely NO result was about this. None. I had to use the info in the screenshot I was sent to google the name of the place and finally find this. .

You would have found it from the clue I'm sure. Here it is. {CLUE}
Makes no sense to post the original image as it is RIS-able.
This news item is about a small village being eaten up by a huge mine operation somewhere in Central-Eastern Europe. If you guess the country right, it is an instant find.

I did understand that the original photo is RISable, but my point is that the only way to find this is RIS anyway, which I have reasons to believe is how the other players found it. Unless one of them knew about the news, but I didn't, and at least one other player didn't, and even when I now Google the name of the place in Google News, the most recent news I get is from 2022! Imagine looking for this NOT knowing the name of the place and not using RIS... Well this is F&G. Shoot happens. Take it or leave it.

Cmon, I gave a hint "village eaten up by mine" google it, 10 out of 10 hits say Serbian village at least on my side.

My point was that when you don't know what you're looking for, you cannot find it if not by RIS. I thought maybe it was near a volcano, or a dried up lake. And when I knew what it was, I googled the news for the village, and found only old news. But your keywords from the clue do work, yes.
